Prof Dr Matthias Wölfel

Dr Matthias Wölfel is Professor of Intuitive and Perceptual User Interfaces at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in the Faculty of Computer Science and Business Informatics and Associate Professor at the University of Hohenheim in the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.

After studying electrical engineering, information technology and computer science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, MA, USA, and at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Pittsburgh, PA, USA, he was a professor of interactive Media at Furtwangen University and Professor for Intermedia Design at Pforzheim University. In Furtwangen, he was vice dean of the Digital Media faculty and head of the master’s degree programs in media informatics and music design.

His research interests include interaction design, human-machine and human-machine-human interaction, artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, and digital culture. In addition to industry (including invitations to in-house presentations at Intel, Danzig; Microsoft, London; Porsche, Zuffenhausen) and science (e.g. keynote at the Human Factors in Design conference, Shanghai), Matthias Wölfel is also experienced in creating exhibits for exhibitions (e.g B. 15th international architecture exhibition, la Biennale di Venezia) and museums (e.g. ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, DASA working world exhibition in Dortmund).
