Malte Schmieding is a physician by training who has fallen in love with coding in R. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on consumer-facing clinical decision support systems (“Symptom Checkers”). Before joining Germany’s Federal Ministry of Health as a policy advisor on AI in healthcare he obtained a Master’s in Biomedical Informatics in Boston, USA.
