Daniel Roth

Daniel is an assistant professor for Human-Centered Computing and Extended Reality at the Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and head of the HEX Lab. Before, he was a senior research scientist with the Chair for Computer Aided Medical Procedures and Augmented Reality, Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany. He received his doctoral degree in Computer Science in 2019 with the highest distinction from the University of Würzburg and his Engineering Masters in Media- and Imaging Technology from the University of Applied Sciences Cologne (TH Köln).

His research focuses on the development of Extended Reality and Machine Intelligence in the context of health and medicine and covers aspects throughout the patient-care continuum - from diagnosis to surgical intervention and rehabilitation/therapy. He has successfully published numerous contributions in the primary XR venues and his works received multiple awards.
