Professor Johner is an expert in the development and approval of medical devices that contain or are software. As an auditor, as a member of a standards committee, as a trainer of notified bodies, and as the author of several books and guidelines for notified bodies and WHO, the physicist with a PhD contributes to the further development of the regulatory landscape.
At the World Medical Device Summit, which he initiated, legislators (e.g., EU Commission, ministries and agencies, FDA), academia, notified bodies and healthcare providers work together to improve regulation.
The Johner Institute supports medical device manufacturers worldwide in setting up QM systems, in the approval and testing of their products, and in the digital transformation of regulatory processes. It offers continuing education such as e-learning and seminars, and offers business process outsourcing.
Christian Johner has taught at several universities, including the University of Konstanz, the University of St. Gallen, the University of Würzburg, and Stanford University.
