Dr Simon Reif is a health economist and has been head of the Project Group “Health Care Markets and Health Policy” at ZEW Mannheim since January 2021. He studied economics and sociology at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg, the University of Hull, UK, and LMU Munich. After completing his PhD at FAU on the supply of medical services, he worked as a policy and start-up consultant.
His research interests are behavioural economic and institutional factors influencing the provision of medical services as well as determinants of individual health. His current research projects deal with strategies for the evaluation of digital health applications and the design of hospital payment systems.
