Marientina Gotsis is an artist, designer and technologist. She is Associate Professor of the Practice of Interactive Media & Games at the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California (USC) and directs the USC Creative Media and Behavioral Health Center (http://cmbhc.usc.edu).
Her work focuses on applications of entertainment at the intersection of behavioral science, medicine and public health, working in diverse topics areas such as developmental neuroscience, wellness, obesity, nutrition, vision health, exercise, autism, child injury prevention, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and cognitive-motor rehabilitation. She has taught art, design and computer programming at USC, Northeastern Illinois University, Columbia College and Harold Washington College. She received a BFA in Photography/Film/Electronic Media and an MFA in Electronic Visualization from the Electronic Visualization Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has consulted for business and not-for-profit organizations for 25 years. Gotsis has lectured about her research and practice at Apple and Karten Design, presented findings at ACM, IEEE and HCI journals and conferences, as well as medical and public health outlets. She has been an invited think-tank participant at the White House, the Institute For The Future and various NIH/NSF/EU-funded workshops.
