Andrea Seung Kim

Andrea received her Master of Science in Biomedical Visualization with a concentration in 3D modeling, UI/UX design and development of interactive medical technology. She delivers analysis of biomedical applications across 3D platforms such as augmented and virtual reality in her current position at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a Research Fellow in Medical Mixed Reality for the Division of Imaging, Diagnostics, and Software Reliability (DIDSR) in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH).

​Currently, Andrea’s research interests include development and design of novel benchmark testing for extended reality (XR) applications, and reliability and performance testing of existing medical HMDs and other immersive devices used in medicine.

​Andrea received her Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University, and her previous work experience includes over three years of clinical research and regulatory training in cardiothoracic surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. She has held national certification (CCRC) in clinical research by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.

She also accepts traditional or digital medical illustration commissions; Andrea's illustrations have been published in The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (2015) and Northwestern Public Health Review (2017).
