Franziska Mathis-Ullrich is Assistant Professor at the of the Institute for Anthropomatics and Robotics (IAR) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Director of the Health Robotics and Automation Lab (HERA). Franziska and her interdisciplinary team at HERA focus their research efforts on minimally invasive medical robotics for diagnosis and treatment. Methods of machine learning, controllable soft robotic systems as well as intelligent surgical assistance systems are used. The team particularly addresses micro-surgical applications in ophthalmology and neurosurgery, as well as robotic assistance for visceral surgery.
